Community Garden

In the backyard of the Eastown Community Association’s house at 415 Ethel is our Community Garden. We strive to not just grow organic produce but to build community by working together and sharing the harvest. This vision was a reason for moving from an individual plot based layout, to a shared community garden layout.

2023 Garden Night Schedule

We plan to meet the third Monday of each month, starting on April 17. Possibly adding a second meeting each month as the growing season picks up.

You can visit the garden any time you want, but on community garden nights we work together on whatever needs to be done. It’s also a great time to meet your neighbors. We hope to have someone volunteer as a “host” for each meetup, bringing drinks and snacks to share. If you are interested in hosting a night or two, let us know by emailing us at garden@eastown.org or via the contact form.

We plan to send an email before each meetup to everyone who has expressed interest in participating. This communication will include what we hope to accomplish, and what we might need to get it done.

Community Support

As a “community” garden, we rely on neighbors and local businesses to help with the supplies and tools we need for a successful garden. Be it a donation, bringing a tool, or simply volunteering your time, this is how the garden operates. Without you, it’s just a backyard. If you or someone you know might be interested in joining us, shoot us a message at garden@eastown.org… or just show up!

Below are some of the things we need this year. If you would be willing to let us borrow, or donate toward the purchase of these items, send us a message or use the donation form below.
