Plans for Beer City Growler Cyclocross
Posted on: May 26, 2016 | Posted in: News
Alger Bike has proposed to produce a community-focused cyclocross and 5K run on October 1 at Wilcox Park. This year’s race will be under new leadership with organizers who have professional experience with similar events, and one is an Eastown resident and business owner. The group is working with local organizations such as Uptown Church to secure parking for residents and participants from across the state.
This is the first year that a beer garden will be available to all 21+ guests with a portion of the proceeds going back to the park and community. This year’s event will also feature a children’s race that is free and will be on a separate course.
A strict “leave no trace” policy will be in effect. The park will begin to be cleaned immediately after the final race on Saturday. Race staff will work diligently to collect all trash and set aside recycling for pickup the following Monday. Any damage to the park grounds will be repaired immediately by local business Lawn Doctor. Event coordinators and staff are adamant on leaving Wilcox Park in a better condition than they found it.
Please be sure to contact the ECA at email@example.com with questions regarding this event. The press release of this event can be found below as well as a picture of the proposed course.
Start/Finish straight: approximately 120m, metal barricades on both sides
