Streetscape Committee

This committee focuses on keeping the Eastown business district a clean and attractive place to live, work and visit.  They focus on recycling initiatives, street side cleanup, flower bed maintenance, beautification projects and much more!   The chair is Jaye VanLenten..

Friends of Wilcox Park and Friends of Sigsbee Park

These committees are dedicated to taking care of Eastown's green spaces.  They have done several successful clean-ups, tree inventories, beautification projects, CPTED improvements and more!  The chair for Wilcox Park is Cindy Lanning-Burch, the chair for Sigsbee Park is Jo VanderPloeg.


Special Events Committee

This committee is the driving force behind such popular Eastown events as Bizarre Bazaar and the Eastown StreetFair.  Learn how to obtain special events permits from the City, solicit bands to perform, attract volunteers and more.  The chair is Pamela Goderski.

Housing Committee

The Housing Committee works with the City of Grand Rapids, Calvin College, the Eastown Community Association's Executive Director / Community Organizer and at times the GR Police on matters of slum landlords; vacant properties; housing code violations; rowdy college students, and more.  This committee also creates welcome packets for new neighbors and information packets for block captains.  The co-chairs are Joel Westra and Rachael Veldkamp.

Block Captain/Public Safety Committee

Eastown Block Captains work as our Public Safety Committee. As active Eastown residents, Block Captains collaborate with  the Eastown Crime Prevention Organizer and the Grand Rapids Police Department on crime issues in our community.  To become a block captain or to inquire about our meetings please contact info.eastown@gmail.com

ACCESS Committee

The ACCESS Committee creates the bi-monthly Eastown newsletter that goes out to approximately 2,500 households.  Some members write articles, others work on lay-out, and still others solicit businesses for advertisements and send the final copy to the printers.
  The chair is Heather Salter.
