ECA board opposes Eastown BP beer and wine sales

Posted on: July 19, 2017 | Posted in: News

In a 12-0 vote, the ECA board unanimously opposed the issuance of a Special Land Use permit from the Eastown BP requesting beer and wine sales for offsite consumption. Based on the GR Planning Department review standards, we have several points of opposition:

1. Not an underserved area.
2. Not necessary for Eastown economic growth and prosperity.
3. Not compatible with adjacent residential use. It’s on the outside edge of the TBA (traditional business area) zoning district.
4. High potential for “secondary effects,” as outlined in review standards.
